Critical Analysis of Communication Techniques and Phases of the Therapeutic Relationship As first year nursing students, we have been introduced to concepts that are fundamental to our professional development as future nurses, such as interpersonal understanding, and interpersonal communication. In fact, understanding the importance of interpersonal communication during different stages of the therapeutic relationship between a nurse and a client is one of our main learning objectives. As a result, we have been assigned to perform a standardized patient scenario interview with an actor in order to demonstrate our communication skills through three different stages of the therapeutic relationship: the interaction phase, the working phase, and the resolution phase. The purpose of this paper is to critically analyze my own performance during the interview process, and identify my areas for growth and my areas of strength in the communication techniques. Before this event, the boys were not considered rapists, and quite possibly would not have acted in such a way if totally sober, but alcohol had played a part, and things got out of hand, both violence and the assault. These decisions that we make under the influence do not completely define who we are, but they do, however, define how we act when we are under the influence, which again, is only a small part of ones life. Another place where we encounter conflict is at work. Work environments can be exceptionally interesting when dealing with conflict.At work, people can seek to empress and perform to exceed expectations, and at the other end of the spectrum, people can often say they are better than everyone and refuse to do what is required or expected of them. Often when taking part in large work groups of varying hierarchy, people may be keen to impress and show great work ethic, or they would rather complain about inefficiencies and management structure causing conflict between colleagues and managers. Whether passive or aggressive, humans tend to react very differently to their core personality when under conflict.Conflict that is encountered at work is often dealt with very differently to that of conflict encountered in home or social environments. At work there may be some conflict encountered with a customer, and in this case, the rules may suggest certain ways, or procedure to deal with this conflict. An aggressive person may be forced to deal with the situation on a passive way to avoid putting their Job at risk. This does not truly show who the person is, merely showing how well they have been trained by an organization. People may put up a wall, or a mask to cover their true self and save them from people seeing their true emotions.Again people act differently when away from their home environment, because that is where we do not have to worry about looking good in front of others. Hence, we are not only truly tested when we encounter conflict, but throughout every aspect of our life. We are being tested all the time, and we are constantly developing who we are. Conflict is not the only part of our lives that defines who we are. We have no idea what to do in times of conflict or crisis other than react, and this is clearly no real indication of who we are.

Death of the Holocaust Essay The Holocaust was one of if not the worst example of genocide and mass murder. The Nazis did one of the most horrible things imaginable by killing so many people. Some the death camps could be considered the worst places on earth, even worse then Hell. As one survivor put it, No one can understand what happened here. The Nazi extermination and concentration camps at Auschwitz, Bergen-Belsen, Treblinka, Berkinow, Chelmo, Sobibor, Belzec, and hundreds of others kept prisoners on their toes and in a constant fear (The Nizkar Project). In these camps, over six million Jews were summarily killed simply because Hitler conceived them to be inferior to his Aryan race of Germans. Polands Jewish population dropped from a vibrant 3,350,000 to a mere 50,000 by the end of the war, just to highlight the worst example (20th Century History). Alongside Gypsies, homosexuals, and some Slavs, Jews were especially targeted as utterly inferior and were subject to gassing, executions, medical experiments, and torture (The Nizkar Project). The deaths of these prisoners were utterly terrible. Some were shot from point blank one behind the next to save bullets. The Germans later used cyanide gas to kill the prisoners. This allowed the Germans to kill more people faster to save time and money.There was nothing innocent about the death camps. As you can see in the collage the bodies of the prisoners looked like skeletons with a thin layer of skin over their bones. The sites almost burn into your mind about how harsh and terrible this act was.
